You've filled every page, the photos look great and the stories are perfect. Now it's time for the best part: holding your magazine in your hands. Here's how to get a beautiful print, whichever way you choose.
First: download the right file
In Canva, click Share → Download and choose PDF Print. This gives you the sharpest, highest-quality file for printing. Before you download, flip through every page once more and check for typos. They're much easier to fix now than after printing.
Option 1: Print with Canva Print
The easiest option: order your print directly from Canva, without downloading anything. Open your design, choose to print it, pick a format and paper, and Canva delivers it to your door. Availability, formats and delivery times depend on your country, so check the options in Canva.
Good for: anyone who wants a polished result without leaving the house.
Option 2: Print at a local print shop
Bring your PDF Print file to a copy or print shop, or upload it to their website. Ask them to print it as a stapled booklet (saddle stitch). A few things to mention:
- Paper: ask for a slightly thicker paper for the cover than for the inside pages. A silk or gloss paper gives that real magazine feel.
- Double-sided: magazines are printed on both sides of the page.
- Page count: stapled booklets usually need a page count that's a multiple of four. Add or remove a page in Canva if needed.
Good for: a professional result, and a chance to ask for advice in person.
Option 3: Print at home
Short on time? You can print at home too. Use a good-quality paper and choose double-sided printing. For a booklet, many printers have a "booklet" setting that puts the pages in the right order. Fold the pages in the middle and staple along the fold.
Good for: last-minute gifts and a first test print to proofread.
Tips for the best result
- Use sharp photos. Small photos from chats or social media can look blurry in print. Ask for the original file when you can.
- Print one test page. Check the colors and photo quality before printing the whole magazine.
- Plan ahead. Leave a few days for printing and delivery, especially around holidays like Christmas and Mother's Day.
